Workshops at CAAD Futures 2027
CAAD Futures 2027 invites proposals for workshops to be held across two full days — June 29–30, 2027 — comprising four sessions. Workshops offer a focused, hands-on setting for exploring emerging methods, tools, and ideas in computational design.
Proposals may address any topic relevant to the conference theme — Design Agency — or the broader field of computational design, including but not limited to: Design Generation, Theory, History, and Pedagogy, Architectural and Urban Systems, Socio-Technical Implications, Fabrication, Materiality, and Robotic Construction, and Data, Sensing, and Computational Infrastructure.
We encourage formats that go beyond traditional presentations: tutorials, design charrettes, collaborative prototyping sessions, and experimental formats are all welcome.

For workshops focused on fabrication and prototyping, please refer to the lab spaces and equipment available at the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape (SAPL):
Woodshop & CNC
- SAPL woodshop with traditional woodshop tools

Clay & Plaster
- Clay and plaster processing area with 2 Lutum clay 3D printers and 2 kilns
- WASP 3MT LDM/GDM extruder
- WASP 2040 LDM extruder
3D Printing
- Various Creality, Bambu and Elegoo FDM printers
- Elegoo OrangeStorm large-format FDM printer
Robotics
- 2× ABB IRB 2600
- 2× Universal UR10e (1 on Vention linear rail)
- Hotwire bow 24/48″, 2 kW spindle, MDPH2 pellet extruder
- PIAB vacuum grippers, Robotiq 2F-140 adaptive grippers

Submission Format
Proposal Submission (PDF only):
- Complete the Workshop Proposal Template (DOCX) and save your completed proposal as a single PDF file.
- Submit via Microsoft CMT. You will need to create a CMT account if you do not already have one.
How to Submit via Microsoft CMT
Step 1. Create a Microsoft CMT account at cmt3.research.microsoft.com and log in.
Step 2. From the top menu, click All Conferences.
Step 3. In the filter box on the right, type caad.
Step 4. Click Computer-Aided Architectural Design Futures 2027 to enter the conference.
Step 5. In the Author Console, click + Create new submission.
Step 6. Select Workshop as the submission type and follow the on-screen instructions.
